After the successful first edition of the project competition N2025 OPEN CALL 2018, in 2019 the European Capital of Culture 2025 Bid Office of the City of Nürnberg launched another call for participation. Interested parties submitted social, artistic or ecological projects for the application phase on the online platform www.opencall.n2025.de. After a selection round, ten winning projects could look forward to support of up to 5,000 euros.

With the Open Call, the European Capital of Culture 2025 Bid Office of the City of Nürnberg pursues a highly participatory approach that consistently focuses on transparency and co-creation.

In the second edition, the winning projects were determined in two ways. On the online platform www.opencall.n2025.de, citizens could vote for their favourites. The seven ideas with the most online votes received financial support of up to 5,000 euros. Three other winning projects were selected by a jury.

Submitted projects dealt with the three themes of the Capital of Culture bid:

  1. embracing humanity

  2. exploring reality

  3. evolving community
