In 2018, the European Capital of Culture 2025 Bid Office of the City of Nürnberg launched the first N2025 OPEN CALL. Interested parties could submit social, artistic or ecological projects for the application phase on the online platform opencall.n2025.de between 17 April and 10 June 2018.

With the Open Call, the European Capital of Culture 2025 Bid Office of the City of Nürnberg pursues a highly participatory approach that consistently focuses on transparency and co-creation.

The projects had to be feasible in 2018 or 2019 and deal with at least one of the following three themes:

City and change: What needs to be changed in the city?
Europe: What ideas do we have about Europe?
History: How does history affect city life?

A public vote on the ideas took place between 17 June and 13 July 2018.

More than 14,000 voters chose the winners from over 150 submitted projects. The eleven most popular ideas were supported with up to 5,000 euros. We continue to support the projects during implementation.
